PumpGuard IoT was developed to meet the growing demand for a connected control unit that allows easy and cost-efficient remote monitoring and control at pump stations. Besides it offers the features of a “big” pump controller at the price and size of a small one.

Smart web-based user interface

The web-based user interface is a core functional element and provides tangible benefits for daily operation:

• Self-explaining setup: A Setup Wizard guides you through the settings process and offers context-based help.
• Export and reuse settings: Configurations can be exported and imported into other control units, either entirely or in selected parts.
• Better overview: The clear, modern web pages provide superior readability and intuitive orientation on tablets and smartphones compared to traditional small LCD menus.
• Graphic approach: Pictograms and schematic pictures allow an easy-to-understand operation at a glance.
• Remote control via the same web pages: Local and remote operation use the same web interface—no second user interface to learn.

Remote monitoring and control

Complex PLC based systems and simple SMS only solutions are already available on the market. With PumpGuard IoT, BONNEL introduces a plug and play, comfortable and cost-effective solution that is platform independent and enables full remote control as well as remote monitoring.

The system is based on the proven Aquavisor^® telemetry platform, already used in thousands of decentralized sewage treatment installations. It goes beyond basic telemetry by providing comprehensive pump station management, including:

• FOTA (remote firmware updates)
• Pump station management, including owner and spare parts databases
• Service report storage and management

PumpGuard IoT connects via any available Wi-Fi network with internet access. If no Wi-Fi is available, a cost effective 2/4G cellular communication module can easily be retro-fitted.

Level measurement possibilities

• As the standard option, level measurement is performed using a diver’s bell with pressure sensing. This cost‑effective and reliable method provides the advantage of analog level measurement, allowing periodic pump‑down to the zero level during low in-flow conditions—even if the start level has not yet been reached—thereby helping to prevent odors.
• Alternatively, up to four float switches can be used.
• As a third option, an analogue pressure probe (4–20 mA) can be connected and be powered directly by the PumpGuard IoT.

Pump monitoring options

• The pump current consumption is evaluated digitally on all three phases according to applicable standards. Moreover, the phase sequence is monitored.
• As additional protection, a reversible and/or an irreversible temperature sensor output of the pump are monitored.
• As a third security level, the maximal pump runtime can be checked.

Mains failure signaling

The PumpGuard IoT can be equipped with a cost-effective rechargeable battery module containing 4x AA rechargeable batteries. Together with BONNEL’s low energy LED alarm beacon BonFlash, the PumpGuard IoT can signalize mains failures of more than 72h.

BONNEL offers a 2G + 4G module that can be retrofitted into PumpGuard IoT. The modules allow a connection to the 4G or 3G or 2G network.
